Overview

Three LCR speakers carry the left, center and right channels across the front of the room; a pair of in-ceiling speakers behind the seating carry the surrounds; a 10-inch powered subwoofer does the bottom end. Everything but the subwoofer disappears into the ceiling, which is the point — the room stays a room. What this package is not is an amplifier: passive speakers need something to drive them, and that is chosen against the room and the sources you already own.

Do I need professional installation for this?

A kit is easier to self-install than a system designed from scratch, because the matching is already done. What is still worth paying for is upstream of the hardware: where each piece goes, cable pulled and terminated properly, and the result actually verified rather than assumed. Installation is an option you add, never forced. Installation isn't charged today. Aji quotes it after a free walkthrough.

What's included

Who it's for

  • A dedicated media room, or a living room doing double duty as one
  • Anyone who wants surround sound without speaker boxes on stands
  • Rooms where the ceiling is accessible, or is coming down anyway

What it covers

  • Five speaker channels plus a subwoofer — the standard 5.1 layout
  • A three-channel front stage, so dialogue is anchored to the screen rather than pulled to one side
  • A powered subwoofer with its own amplifier built in, so only the five passive channels need driving

What you'll also need

These are genuine requirements this kit does not contain — the parts whose size, length or specification depends on your building or your room. We would rather you read this now than discover it after delivery.

  • An AV receiver or amplifier with at least five channels. The five speakers here are passive — they have no amplification of their own and will not make a sound without one. We do not currently stock amplification, so this is the part of the package you will buy elsewhere, or have us specify at the walkthrough.
  • Speaker cable from the rack to each of the five positions, plus a single line-level cable to the subwoofer
